Qualifications

Dr. Colameco has had over 20 years of experience in addiction medicine. First certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine in 1987, he has been honored by the Society with the designation "Fellow"; in 2003, he was one of 219 physicians recognized for their contributions to the field. Dr. Colameco has been prescribing buprenorphine (Suboxone (R) for opiate dependence this medication became available in 2003. He has published two articles on Suboxone treatment in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Colameco has also served as inpatient addiction treatment program medical director, family medicine residency program director, health system medical director, and as an addiction specialist for licensed psychiatric training programs. He is a member of the national faculty for Core Content Review of Family Practice and an assistant clinical professor in Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine's Department of Family and Community Medicine. Dr. Colameco has been a lecturer by invitation on topics of addiction and chronic pain at physician continuing education meetings . He has been recognized as an expert by New Jersey courts.
